Ricoh launches New MFP series with intelligent user interface to streamline workflow
Hong Kong, 11 April 2012, Ricoh Hong Kong announces the launch of a new series of black & white and colour multifunction document systems (MFP) that has an intelligent, intuitive user interface. Users can customized the 8.5 inch home screen with personal short-cuts and favorites to save time and streamline workflow. That means different users can customized their home screen according to their own workflow and preferences. After customization, users can push one button, and documents can be scanned, print, stored or shared instantly.
The new series of Ricoh black & white (MP 4002 SP / 5002 SP) and colour MFPs (MPC 3002/3502/4502A/5502A) are packed with efficient workflow and connectivity features, offering high productivity, fast turn-around and cost savings. The new models not only meet international security and environmental standards. With their compliance and energy-saving options, they are the ultimate document solutions for offices.
One of the new models launched is the Ricoh Aficio MP C305SPF, an A4 color MFP that is designed for small offices and retail outlet applications. The machine is small in footprint and it has the lowest energy consumption level of 1.36 kwh (TEC value) which is much lower than other A4 printers. This new compact model has 30ppm printing speed, and it has built in fax, print, copy and scan functions. Designed for small office use, this model is expected to be very popular for Hong Kong SMB.
Workflow Improvement features
Apart from the high printing speed and the customizable operation panel, the new models are designed with many new features that can help to improve user workflow. For example, there is an integrated USB/SD slot on the panel lets you work directly from an external source to import documents. The Scheduled Print feature can help to schedule print job at your preferred time in advance to avoid heavy traffic print queue.
When scanning different sized documents, the special Reduce / Enlarge Scan function can enable users to reduce or enlarge a standard paper size to another size so that users can easily combine different sized documents into one. The Auto Job Promoter function can automatically skip error print jobs in lower priority, so the print queue will not be blocked. Last but not least, the Remote Fax feature can linked different MFPs together to share one fax line to save cost. All these will help companies to reduce running cost and improve daily workflow.
Document security features
The new Ricoh series are all qualified under the Common Criteria standards (ISO15408). Common Criteria is the international standard for evaluating IT products including MFPs.
Ricoh is among the first in the industry to acquire the Common Criteria certification for their copier and printer products. The new MFP series has other security features such as the Copy Control function that prevents the unauthorized copying of documents, enhanced encryption and HDD encryption for scanning and hard disk security. Secure scanning to Web Mail via SMTP with encrypted SSL adds another layer of security to the Ricoh device.
Quota settings per user group or user allow companies to manage the operation costs of the device. Combining high throughput with sustainability, the controller also features an Eco-Friendly indicator that shows the paper settings history for more efficient usage. The Indicator can enable users to confirm the usage status of each user and show the “paper reduction ratio” based on the user’s total print volume, color printing ratio and the usage ratio for duplex and combine mode printing. Ricoh’s QSU (quick start up) technology enables fast recovery time from sleep mode and lower TEC (typical electricity consumption) values also means less impact on the environment.
Remote Diagnosis software to help reduce admin work
Ricoh also provides a remote diagnosis software called @Remote for monitoring the network devices easily. With this tool, management can monitor the usage of each device and detail reports are provided to analyze print volume. Features include:
- Auto meter reporting (customers do not need to report meter reading as it will help to send meter reading to Ricoh center automatically to ensure prompt delivery of toner)
- Remote diagnosis of devices (error codes will be sent to Ricoh center for maintenance calls)
- Green report (detail report on device print volume and usage of environmental printing modes will be provided for easy management and promotion of green printing behavior)
