Notice to users of SP C320DN

We would like to provide you with important information regarding an error that has been discovered in the SP C320DN color printer. In certain cases, an error may occur that causes the machine to stop, and in rare cases smoke and/or an odor may be recognized due to the evaporation of volatile component in the printer.

This phenomenon has been investigated internally, and it has been determined that the components pose no risk to human health. It has also been ascertained that the error is caused by an issue with the printer control software.

We will upgrade the firmware free of charge for users or to correct the above errors and users will be contacted for further assistant.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience that this issue may have caused to any of our customers. Ricoh is committed to providing the highest level of quality products and will do our utmost to preventing such issues from occurring in the future.

2. Possible Phenomena and Trigger

A specific error has been found to cause the printer to stop functioning until a Customer Engineer is able to reset the printer. The error may occur during the following operations:

  • -   When the power switch is turned ON 
  • -   When the machine recovers from sleep mode
  • -   When the cover is being opened and closed.

 

Note: When this error occurs, in rare cases smoke and/or an odor may be recognized due to the evaporation of volatile component in the printer. The components have been analyzed, and the smoke and odor have been determined to pose no risk to human health.

3. Our Actions

Ricoh will provide a repair service free of charge for above mentioned error.
