Environmental Compliances

Energy Star

Ricoh is a charter member and long-term supporter of the Energy Star Program, a voluntary partnership between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Energy (DOE) and private industry. We are the first copier manufacturer to sign the EPA Energy Star "Memorandum of Understanding" promoting energy conservation. Ricoh is the only company to have been named "EPA Imaging Partner of the Year," five years running, and to have received the program’s highest award, "Labeling Partner of the Year" in 2000.

Energy Efficiency Labeling Scheme

RHK has actively participated the Energy Efficiency Labeling Scheme governed by Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of HKSAR. The scheme aims to promote energy saving by informing potential customers the level of energy consumption and efficiency rating, so that buyers can take these factors into consideration when making their purchasing decision. "Energy Label" will be given to the equipment which has registered under the scheme. Almost all of Ricoh products have gained the Energy Label.

RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive)

The RoHS was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union. The RoHS directive took effect on July 1, 2006, and is required the manufacturers to ensure that they do not use materials or components that contact the restricted substances. All the materials used in machine production meet the RoHS safety requirements with no hazardous substances.
