Environmental Management

Ricoh Hong Kong has achieved ISO 14001 certification, and engages in a wide range of practices and activities designed to benefit the environment.

Ricoh has an environmental conservation office that supports a concept known as the "4Rs", namely, Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Replace. Using this concept the environmental conservation office initiated the activities as follows:

 1. Recycling of toner bottles, toner cartridges, machines and packaging materials

Ricoh Hong Kong collects used Ricoh machines, toner bottles and toner cartridges from customers to reduce waste materials and facilitate recycling. In Hong Kong, Ricoh is the only vendor that has set up a toner bottle remanufacturing facility in their logistics centre. Toner bottles are carefully checked, refilled and the remanufacturing process is closely monitored by Ricoh's factory to ensure that quality of the recycled toner bottle is up to the highest standards.

The Ricoh Toner Bottle and Cartridge Recycling Program

As a customer, you can now help to clean up the world by taking part in Ricoh's Toner Bottle and Cartridge Recycling Programme. We will collect the used bottles and cartridges from all Ricoh fax, printers and MFP and we will recycle the bottles and cartridges to minimise wastes.

Each returned toner bottle is disassembled, cleaned and remanufactured as a new toner bottle in our factory. The quality of the new bottle will be guaranteed.

 2. Recycling of paper

Main Content
Main Content In 1999, the use of paper stationery in the USA alone reached 1,200 billion sheets. Ricoh plans to encourage a reduction in paper consumption and for this purpose recommends, first, using both sides of each sheet and, second, making use of e-mail as a means of internal office communication. In addition, paper used in offices, as well as paper used for other purposes, such as magazines, newspapers and letters, should be segregated into types and then delivered to authorised recycling dealers for remanufacturing.

 3. Good practice in the office

Main Content
Main Content Everyone may foster environmental conservation by saving resources and reducing waste. Ricoh has introduced the practice of posting notices in its offices, reminding colleagues to foster environmental conservation by practices such as using both sides of paper stationery, turning off unattended computers and air conditioners and using water economically.
Main Content
Most of Ricoh’s products are certified under international environmental standards. Recently, we have introduced a programme of collecting our customers’ copiers at the end of their life cycle. This has been very successful, and 70% of used copiers have been collected for recycling.

Ricoh hopes to set an example to encourage people to reduce their use of natural resources, including energy and chemicals, and also reduce waste emission into the air, water and soil.

Ricoh’s Environmental Committee office is happy to share its knowledge in this field with its customers and other enterprises in the same field. Your enquiries are welcome; please contact us by calling 2833-1111 or e-mail to contact@ricoh.com.hk .
