Ricoh & Energy Star

 Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme

As Ricoh regards environmental conservation as an integral element in all our business activities, we have actively participated the Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme governed by Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of HKSAR. The scheme aims to promote energy saving by informing potential customers the level of energy consumption and efficiency rating, so that buyers can take these factors into consideration when making their purchasing decision. " Energy Label" will be given to the equipment which has registered under the scheme.

Most of our products have gained the Energy Label. For details please download the PDF file.

 Partners in Protecting the Environment

Ricoh is a charter member and long-term supporter of the Energy Star Programme, a voluntary partnership between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Energy (DOE) and private industry. We are the first copier manufacturer to sign the EPA Energy Star "Memorandum of Understanding" promoting energy conservation. Ricoh is the only company to have been named "EPA Imaging Partner of the Year," five years running, and to have received the programme’s highest award, "Labelling Partner of the Year" in 2000.

Ricoh continues to advance the programme through technical consultation and active promotion of the environmental and economic benefits of using energy more efficiently. Its promotion activities include the creation of a nationally recognized multimedia presentation, "The Energy Star Experience," which was cited by the EPA for "Excellence in Consumer Education."

 Cooperation for Conservation

Energy Star is a voluntary non-regulatory programme that creates partnerships between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Energy (DOE) and the office equipment industry. Its success demonstrates how cooperation between government and the private sector can benefit everyone.

The Energy Star programme accomplishes its goals via market-driven means, not government mandate. It works very simply. EPA and DOE promote the economic advantages of energy-efficient products and then identify compliant products to consumers. As consumers appreciate the impact that energy savings can have on their bottom line, they look for energy-efficient equipment.

In addition to helping to protect the environment, it frees billions of dollars of needless energy spending. The money saved goes back into the economy - instead of up in smoke.
