2007 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World

This is the third consecutive year that Ricoh has been included in the list, known as the Global 100.

Starting in 2005, Corporate Knights Inc. of Canada has selected the 100 top corporations in the world every year, after evaluating the sustainability of more than 1,800 large corporations in all business sectors based on research and analysis data provided by Innovest Strategic Value Advisors in USA. The 2007 Global 100 was announced on January 24, timed to coincide with the Annual General Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The companies selected for the Global 100 are analyzed in detail, compared to their industry peers, and evaluated as the global corporations with the best-developed abilities to effectively manage environmental, social and governance risks. The achievement in these three areas, which significantly influence their business results, has been evaluated as a key indicator of management quality and long-term financial performance.

Among the world's leading corporations, Ricoh's aggressive environmental policy, along with its long-term vision extending to 2050, was highly regarded. And while the rigorous selection caused more than one third of the Global 100 corporations to be replaced between 2006 and 2007, Ricoh has the honor of being included on the list three times in a row.

 Prime Awards for Eco-Business 2007

Ricoh Hong Kong Limited was honoured by receiving the Prime Awards for Eco-Business 2007 organised by Prime Communications Limited. The award was a gesture to recognise Ricoh's support of eco-business and its commitment in carrying out its social responsibility as an enterprise. All award-receiving enterprises have been proactively implementing environmentally friendly measures, such as reducing waste, saving energy and recycling products. Eco-businesses must increase the awareness of their staff with respect to caring for the environment, satisfying customer needs and receiving widespread recognition from the community. They should also work towards enhancing productivity efficiency to achieve cost effectiveness and to establish a positive enterprise image.

Ricoh has always regarded environmental conservation as an essential element in its business development. It started promoting environmentally friendly practices many years ago. In 2001, Ricoh Hong Kong was the first company in the industry to receive the ISO14001 Environment Management Systems and Standards certification. Moreover, Ricoh offers to its customers recollection service for used cartridges and toners to recycle and reduce waste, free of charge. Almost all Ricoh products have obtained an Energy Label from the Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), meaning that Ricoh products meet the energy efficiency requirements set by EMSD and are reliable for consumers.

Mr. Aaron Yim, Managing Director of Ricoh Hong Kong Limited, was invited to attend the presentation ceremony for the Prime Awards for Eco-Business 2007 on 26 April. Mr. Yim pointed out that Ricoh made its best efforts in reducing environmental pollution and resource wastage in the process of producing its products, from the stages of development, design, marketing and promotion, to after-sale product intake for recycling. In the future, Ricoh will continue to actively perform eco-business functions and participate in various eco-activities in the community.

During the award ceremony, Mr. Yim exchanged and shared his insights on eco-business with representatives of other award-receiving enterprises, such as CLP Group, Hongkong Electric Co. Ltd., Maxim's Group, McDonalds Restaurants (H.K.) Ltd. and Sun Hung Kai Properties.
